Who is
Don Bosco

Founder of all worldwide net-work of educational institutions of the most varied kinds was Don Bosco who was born in a little village in Northern Italy. By hardwork and persevering efforts he became a Priest and decided to dedicate his life for the welfare of youth. His ideas were so far in advance of his times as to be revolutionary. His methods were novel as they were daring. He followed what is widely known as preventive system of education based on reason, religion and kindness.

He opened youth centres. He was the first to begin evening classes for working boys. He taught them a trade and made them useful citizens. 'Work and Prayer" was Don Bosco's motto. In a society that aims at progress and security there could be no better means other than providing good education was his opinion.

FR. THOMAS MYLADOOR MEMORIAL DON BOSCO CENTRAL SCHOOL, MANJESHWAR

Rev Fr. Thomas Myladoor (1933-2015), a Salesian Priest and the second Provincial of the province of Bangalore worked in Holy Cross Church Pavur from 1997-2006. He was the first Salesian to take up the Mission Pavur from the Diocese of Mangalore. People affectionately called him PAVURDA MALLA GURUKULU meaning big father of Pavur. He revolutionized the way tribal people thought about education and faith. He built 102 RCC houses for the tribals and a huge Church for their worship. Seeing the poor condition of the Government aided, Vidyodaya L.P. School in an old dilapidated building at Gerukatte, he built a sophisticated new school building with a large playground to provide the students with better learning atmosphere. He also built two hostels for the boys and girls of the Parish to rescue them from difficult situations and motivate them for better future. He sent many students to various study centres for the better education. It was unfortunate that he died in an accident at the age of 82 while he was in Don Bosco Tumkur. People who were taken up by his hard work, generosity and commitment for the poor people in Pavur gratefully built a school in memory of him and called it as FR. THOMAS MYLADOOR MEMORIAL DON BOSCO CENTRAL SCHOOL, MANJESHWAR.
